The Beetle officially the Volkswagen type 1, informally the “Käfer” the German word for beetle or the Bug. 1968 was a year of major change most noticeably being the new larger and higher mounted C-section bumpers.
New larger tail lamps are adopted & are able to accommodate reverse lamps, previously bumper-mounted units. Other improvements were an outside gas filler with spring-loaded flap, eliminating opening the bonnet to refuel.
