This 1962 Jaguar E-Type 3.8 Fixed Head Coupe is a rare and significant early-production example, manufactured on 25 May 1962 and sold via Henley’s of London on 2 June 1962. With a chassis number below 600, this is a highly collectible vehicle from the first year of production.
Originally a “flat floor” model, the car has had its floor panels professionally lowered to improve cabin comfort while retaining its period-correct appearance. It is a factory right-hand drive car with its original aluminium centre dash and retains its matching numbers across the engine, chassis, body, and gearbox, as confirmed by an official Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
The car has undergone a full, high-quality restoration, including a complete respray, reupholstered interior, new carpets, and a fully overhauled engine. The braking system has been sensibly upgraded to a later Jaguar spec for improved performance and safety.
It is presented with original wire wheels, copper hammer, jack, tool roll, handbook, safety triangle, and some spares—a complete and well-prepared package for the discerning collector.
NB: The vehicle was previously de-registered for export, but due to time constraints, it was re-registered on the system as a “Built-Up”.
A rare opportunity to acquire an early E-Type with outstanding provenance, originality, and restoration pedigree.
