Description
This 1952 MG TD Midget beautifully presented in British racing green with cream leather upholstery/trimmings. This fine example was loving cherished for many years winning as many concourse trophies for the mantelpiece. The TD combined the TC’s drive train, new gearbox, the Y-type chassis and the familiar T-type body style. A 1950 road-test report described the TD as “most striking” and the “Ultimate car in the comfort of riding”. For the driver the “all-weather protection” was good by the standards of the time, not waterproof in today’s age.
For night driving, instrument illumination was “effective but not dazzling” lit by a pale green cluster light effect. Nearly 30,000 had been produced, when the series ended in 1953 mostly exported, 23,488 of them to the US. An example tested in 1952 had a top speed of 124 km/h and could accelerate from 0–97 km/h in 18.2 seconds.
