This Deep Purple 57 Chevy Pick-Up is one hell of an eye catcher that photos don’t do it any justice and needs to be seen in the flesh, but we’ll come back to this shortly,now for a little history lesson.

In 1955 GM redesigned their Trucks into what we know now is the series to have and this design was keep until 1959. Between the years there were small changes and the outstanding feature of the 1957 Truck was the more open grill and the hood that looked more like the Chevy Bel Air with the two raised spears on it. We could dig deeper into the roots of GM at the time, but we all know that the 50s Chevy’s are the most desirable.
Well, we not here to waste time on the past as we are in the here and now and we have an impressive Resto-mod Chevy to investigate. And Resto-mods are all the crazy and where the money lies in American Muscle and our 57 ticks all the boxes.

Let’s start off on this truck on the look and stance that just makes her a little stealthy. At first when you look at this truck, she looks black but once it in the sun the purple comes to light with the great contrast of the black 20inch wheels. This look wouldn’t be complete without its peak cap over the windscreen. Attached to the wheels and chassis is the trusty old Jaguar XJ suspension and brakes meaning that you have the ability to stop this beast and know that you can put this truck in the bends without a blink of an eye and if you get it sideways that you can catch her smoothly. Added benefit of this setup it the power steering for those tight parking lots.
Now that we have sorted out the handling, I guess we need to look at what powers this 57 Pick-Up. Well, there is a 383 Stroker under the hood with several mentionable go faster bits like the Roller Cam, Alli Heads and that full bottom end was tricked out too. Fuelling of this V8 is handled but a Four Barrel Brawler Carb and electric fuel pump, making sure this animal is well fed. And to wrap up the engine side of things the gases need to leave effectively through the stainless-steel exhaust system with the side pipes that show face just behind the cabin.
Attached to this engine is a TH350 Box that is effective at changing the horses of the 383CU V8 into forward motion together with the Jag diff.
And lastly, we need to mention the interior and the drivers hot spot, well this is a cool place to be in with the Aircon and Rockford Sound System which seems a little overkill as you want to listen to the turn of the engine but it’s there if you want to change it up. With your bum on the leather bench things feel alright and info been fed to you but the Dakota Gauges you are now ready to motor ahead.

The sum of all these parts makes this 57 Chevy Truck a real driver’s toy as well as a head turner.
