What we have here is something special to grace our shores in Cape Town. She is a show-winning Pontiac Le Mans Convertible at various prestigious motor shows around the USA and often takes 1^st Place.

Let’s look into Pontiac at the time, most people would know that the brand Pontiac was owned by GM (General Motors), who also built Chevys, Chryslers, and GMC to name a couple, the 1976 Pontiac was built on the A-Body Platform and the body style options were 2 door Coupe’s, 2/4 door sedans, a station wagon variant, and our 2-door convertible. As well in true GM style, a range of engine options from a 216ci Straight Six to the Big 389ci V8 and if that wasn’t enough the gearbox ranged from a 2-Speed Automatic to the 4-Speed Manual.

Now we know a little about the general info of this Model let’s actually look at what we have on hand and that’s a Gold on Gold Lemans Pontiac. Being an awesome convertible of the Second Gen of the Lemans it fits in well with the lifestyle of cruising the coastal rides of the Cape. This Pontiac has huge presents from its stacked headlights to its long sleek bodylines which are accentuated when the roof is down. And then there is the 326Ci V8 Engine to match the TH400 gearbox that has ample power to cruise all the passes with ease. Lastly the interior, yes, it’s gold but it’s very original and true to the period of being a little bit of show off and remembering it’s a show car too.

As said before with the Gold Gem, it’s about the journey and been a little out there cruising around from Camps Bay to Chapmans Pass into the Winelands and beyond looking for new adventures in the sun.
