What an awesome collectable, as this model was the world’s fastest 4 – door car in its time and could comfortably cruise at over 200 km/h with 5 occupants!! Extremely collectable as there were only 6526 vehicles produced! This precious gem started out as a private venture by company engineer Erich Waxenberger, the Chief engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut was surprised how this fuel injected pavement – ripping V8 fitted perfectly into the engine bay that was initially meant for a 6 cyl. engine. At the Geneva Motor show in 1968 this model enhanced Mercedes – Benz’s reputation for luxury sports cars and was extremely luxurious in its time with futures such as air suspension with 3 settings on height, ventilated 4 – wheel power disk brakes, electric windows, central locking, power steering, etc. With 300 hp/588Nm of torque, a 0 – 100 km/h sprint in just 6.6 seconds and about R300 000 spent on pneumatic suspension restoration this is a genuine special collection!
