Occasionally we come across vehicles that seem to have been stored and only been driven on a Sunday to the Local Church, shops, or car shows. This Merc 230 W114 is just such an example. This car has been owned since new by the family and this is perhaps the best kept one, we have seen in many years, but will come back to her shortly.

The W114 isn’t the most collectable of the Merc’s but is on the rise. The W114/115 had a good life with production starting in 1968 and the final car coming off the line in 1976 with over 1.8 mil sedans built around the world in their different plant’s, including East London here in South Africa and that is where our Lady of luxury comes from. At the time besides the 280S. this car represented the luxury market for Mercedes Benz.

This old lady is beautiful and a very well-preserved version on Mercedes Benz 230.  From the paintwork that is almost original to the untouched interior of the lady. She is a real gem. The 2.3 litre straight six starts in a wizz and pulls well through the gears on the automatic gearbox. It’s very hard to fault this car in all aspects and the only non-original items are the central locking with immobilizer and the tinting windows which are actually bad add-on’s
