When Italians sit down at a design board, they seem to create pure automotive magic, so when they sat down to create the Alfa Romeo Spider 2000 in the 1970’s it is no surprise what came out is probably one of the prettiest sports roadsters. The Spider 2000 ‘s were modified in 1974 and 1975 respectively to include two small seats behind the front seats. In 1974 and 1976, the early-style stainless steel bumpers stopped production and was replaced with black rubber-clad units.

This Spider has a lovely history in that it has been owned by its 3^rd owning for the past 20yrs. In that time, it has taken a young new growing car enthusiast to college and back, picked up chicks at parties driven around the peninsula showing off Cape Town. Repeat that a few times and the little car found a very found place in the family of Alfisti’s. Meticulously maintained with no expenses spared throughout this ownership, the Spider has delivered several thousand happy miles. All bills and receipts have been kept from the purchase invoice to the last light spray work and service and full check over to make showroom ready for her new caretaker.

Having covered just 115 000 kilometers, it’s a good solid example and perhaps one of the best driving ones too. The 2lt engine packs a little more firepower. With the motor being rebuilt back in the mid 2000’s, it was decided that some hi-pressure Wiseco Pistons should be slotted in in combination with porting, gas flowing and balancing. Throw on a proper Powerflow exhaust (not loud), a LS diff so this sleeky shape takes off from the line with un-expected gusto. It’s not a lazy car by any standards and the motor just purrs with the 40 Delorto side-draughts proving music to your ears…and when that isn’t enough, the car has a tastefully hidden kicker speaker sound system upgrade so you can pump your favorite tunes whilst impressing your bird next to you.

It’s all a winning combination and this car gives all the right sensations a petrolhead is looking for in a journey. Come pop in for a cup of coffee and lay your eyes on this beauty.
