This Clubman Mini Monte Carlo pays homage to the original 1960s Racing Mini’s, which were remarkably successful at the Famous Monte Carlo Rally and giving the larger marques like Porsche, Alfa and Citroen a good run for their money.
There is truly little documented information on the Clubman MINI Monte Carlo Editions, but the Clubman was a facelift of the earlier Bullnose Mini which was still been built side by side until 1971. This squarer shape was produced under British Leyland from 1969 to 1982 in the form of a 2 Door Hatch and 2 Door Estates. The Estate replaced the Countryman and Travellers.
The first Clubman were built with the 988cc engine from the Mini 1000 as well as the more common 1275 engine with a Single Carb, only the Mini Copper S and the GT/GTS came with a twin SU Carbs.
Now that we have looked at the past, let’s investigate our current Mini,
She an impressive little car which is eager to please. The 1275cc single carburetted engine seems to have kept its 59bhp over the last 40 years from the factory, the 4-speed gear change is fairly direct, but the outstanding feature is the handling of this Mini, on its 10inch wheels, and what made them giant killers in their day.
The Sunflower Yellow paint is sure to brighten your day with the Brown GT-like stripes over the bonnet and down the sides. The front bumper sets this Mini apart from your standard Clubman and makes it truly special. The brown cloth seats hold you well and the interior looks good and very original.
This entry-level class is pretty quick and going for a steal, if you are thinking of joining the Classic Car Family this is a good starting point and remember you can carry the whole family in a MINI.
Come by and see her for yourself.
Interesting trade-ins will be considered.
