The Mercedes Benz SL has always been the benchmark for the Upper-Class Supers Tourer, offering the options of open-top cruising in the summers, with a soft-top for those rainy days and then the removable hard top for those chilly winter days when you just want to be warm and cosy. The SL name has been a large part of the Mercedes history from racing in the 50’s with the likes of Sterling Moss in the 300 SL to the Grand Sport Tourers that we see today with their foldable hard-tops and the Sports Dresses from AMG putting out insane power from their V8’s and V12 in the SL600s. In the history books of Mercedes with the SL range, they have offered straight sixes, but the premium vehicle has basically always been the V8.
